Message from the Headteacher

Last week at HHIS we celebrated all things mathematical in our first ever Maths Week. It was a week full of fun mathematical challenges, competitions, and events.
The week kicked off with our Primary students and teachers coming to school dressed as rock stars to launch the annual TT Rock Stars times tables challenge. The winning classes, (6S 4L and 3T) enjoyed a donut treat at the end of the week.

Students from Years 5 to 9 also took part in the Fobisia Code breaking challenge. This was an opportunity for collaboration, with some of our Year 9 students supporting our Primary School students. The competition was fierce and the school overall finished 4th in Thailand, ahead of much larger schools. An excellent achievement.
A highlight of the week was Friday's Maths relay race, where teams had to answer up to 18 questions as fast as they could. All Secondary tutor groups were involved, and they were up against an experienced staff team. There was a lot of quick thinking, fast running and fun during the race. In the end the staff team were triumphant, just beating the team from 9J.
In addition to these highlights, there were many other maths related activities happening throughout the week, showcasing the maths skills of our students.
We have another focus week coming up next week. To mark the WHO World Mental Health Day on Thursday 10th October, we will be holding a well-being week. Well-being is one of the focus areas of our strategic plan, and we have some super activities and events planned. Here are some of the highlights:
Mindful Monday : Mindfulness activities at lunchtime e.g. colouring, diamond painting, bracelet making and origami.

Together Tuesday : Board games or chess at lunchtime.
Bring in a healthy snack to share with your form/class (no nuts please).

Workout Wednesday : Come to school dressed in sports clothes/PE kits and enjoy some sports at lunchtime.

Thankful Thursday: Be Seen In Green for World Mental Health Day! Come to school dressed in green and bring in 50B to raise money for the flood victims in Northern Thailand.

Fabulous Friday: Come to school dressed wearing positive affirmations or just wearing your favourite top that makes you smile!

This will be a wonderful, wellbeing wind down to the half term break.
