Message from the Headteacher
|
Welcome back to the second half of this term. We hope you have a good week, connecting with friends and family. In the week before the mid-term break, we celebrated the importance of looking after our wellbeing including marking World Mental Health Day on 10th October. Our wellbeing is crucial to our successes. When we feel safe, supported and healthy, both mentally and physically, we are better equipped to learn, grow, and thrive. At HHIS we aim to nurture our positive, inclusive and supportive culture, and this directly impacts everyone’s wellbeing at school.
|
Some highlights from the week included creating kindness rocks, learning yoga, playing board games, sharing healthy snacks, dancing, skipping challenges, a lunch hour Secondary Siesta and creating a whole school Gratitude Tree in the canteen.
|
On World Mental Health Day we invited everyone to contribute 50 Baht to come to school in the calming colour of green. We raised 19,509thb which will be sent to the Thai Red Cross Society. The money will go directly towards buying basic necessities for those affected by the floods in Northern Thailand. Many thanks to everyone for their contributions.
|
In addition to the many wellbeing activities that took place, the week was also busy with school trips and art exhibitions. It certainly is a packed newsletter this week showcasing this busy school!

Parent reps: update We would like to thank everyone who has volunteered to be a class rep this year. We are still finalising a couple of classes. If your child’s class is still needing a rep, you will have received a separate email. As soon as we have completed this, we will hold a meeting for all reps, and share further information with the school community.

Celebrating Teacher’s Success!
|
This week we celebrate the achievement of Mr Lewis who took part in the Chicago Marathon last week. He finished in an amazing time of 2 hours, 38 minutes and 22 seconds. He finished 365th out of over 50,000 runners and 30th in his age category, meaning he finished in the top 1% of runners! Quite an achievement…Mr Lewis you are truly inspiring!

Year 11 Leadership Camp in Kanchanaburi
Our Year 11 students recently embarked on an unforgettable 4-day trip to Kanchanaburi, designed to challenge and develop their leadership skills. Throughout the adventure, students were pushed out of their comfort zones, working in diverse groups to tackle a range of activities, Stand Up Paddleboarding, meal planning and cooking, emergency first aid, navigation, geocaching and river rescue techniques.
|
It was truly inspiring to witness different personalities step up as leaders, showcasing their strengths in various tasks. The experience not only built valuable life skills but also created memories we hope will last a lifetime.

iCamp Kanchanaburi
Once again, i-camp did not disappoint! After a very rainy start, 25 over excited children, and 4 equally excited teachers, arrived at i-camp ready for two days of fun and adventure. Some of the highlights included The Amazing Race, which involved different challenges that the teams had to complete; the Water Park games, which involved many challenges to stay up and get through the water obstacle course and of course Smoores under the starry - or rainy- sky. Apart from team building and relationship building, it was also an opportunity to make real life connections to our learning and the children enjoyed making connections at the Death Railway Museum and cemetery which they have been learning about over the past few months. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to build memories outside of the classroom and teachers and children alike had a wonderful time.

Year 8 Art
We are very proud of Year 8 students who recently hosted their exhibition to share their learning for ‘Healthy Living for Life’. Students have led their own inquiry into the sustainable development goals and they created their own showcase event. It was wonderful to welcome families and students from older and younger classes, so Year 8 could share their innovative ideas and demonstrate the power of collaboration. Their message was clear - we must work together to help our planet and our future generations.

Y7 Trip to Huay Sai Royal Development Study Center
Our Year 7 students participated in a wonderful trip to Huay Sai Royal Development Study Center. This was a great experience of hands-on learning and cultural exploration, where students learnt about mushroom farming and observed the intricate process of charcoal making. This opportunity provided a great experience to gain a deeper appreciation for sustainable practices and also the critical issue of deforestation, which led to King Rama IX's visionary Royal Projects. To conclude the trip, students enjoyed the opportunity to visit the OTOP shop, where they purchased local products at affordable prices, bringing home a piece of Thai culture. It was a day filled with learning, fun, and discovery!
