Message from the Headteacher
|
Last week, we held our first parent teacher meetings of the school year. It was wonderful to see so many parents on campus. It cannot be emphasised or repeated enough, the significant impact parental involvement has on a child’s success at school. There is plenty of research supporting the premise that parental engagement has a positive impact on a student’s achievement at school. Research also suggests that providing opportunities for parents to come to school, to better understand their child’s education, is one of the most effective. These parent teacher meetings provide one example of this.

Further examples of how the school can facilitate this took place in the past few days. Last week, our EY3 parents were invited to come and “stay and play” with their children, giving them an insight into some of the activities their children take part in at school. Yesterday our Year 7 classes presented a showcase of their History projects to their parents. You can read more about these events below.
|
These opportunities continue this week with EY2 parents being invited to “stay and play” and at the other end of the school, parents and students from Year 11 being invited to an introduction to the IB Diploma with Mr David.
|
Another important factor to consider when discussing parental involvement is the information the parents are receiving from the school. This weekly newsletter is one such way we communicate with our community. We hope that putting in place a Class Reps system will also contribute to this communication. I would like to thank all our Class Rep volunteers and look forward to getting this new initiative going very soon.

EY3 stay and play
EY3’s first Stay and Play was a wonderful success! The students proudly showcased their projects and shared their learning journey with their families. A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who attended, helping to highlight the amazing sense of community we have at our school. Your support and involvement mean so much to us! We are excited to continue making this a weekly event and look forward to welcoming you again soon.

Year 7 Showcase
It was a great start to this week with parents and younger classes joining our Year 7 students, who led a showcase of their recent learning in History lessons. Our Year 7 students were inspired by their recent learning theme, ‘Choices’, and they then had the opportunity to research and present their own ideas in a variety of ways, for different Ancient Civilizations. Students worked collaboratively and showed real imagination by sharing their learning through song, performance, comic strips, posters, quizzes and slideshows. Year 7 should feel very proud and it is great to see them growing in confidence in their Secondary education.

Student Council Collaboration
Our Primary and Secondary student councils have been working together to discuss ideas for the canteen and break times. Their ideas have been excellent and these have included our positive behaviours working and eating together, a new noticeboard in the canteen for sharing information, as well as hosting further activities and opportunities at lunchtime. Students also shared ideas for the food options for everyone at our school. Further discussions will be taking place with all our classes and we look forward to implementing these suggestions in the future.

There were some excellent results at the recent Bangkok Hospital Run that took place at Rajabhakti Park. Students, parents and teachers took part in the 5km and 10km events and it was lovely that there were so many supporters cheering everyone at the finish line. A big well done to Kirill, Eva G, Ben T, Bass, Jasmin, Ben A, Emily, Alisa, Anthony and Jack. You should feel very proud of your efforts and we look forward to seeing many more inspired runners at future events. A list of these opportunities is included here:
