Message from our Thai Director, Kru Gade

The Loy Krathong celebration at HHIS was truly a memorable event! Our students, from the Early Years and Primary, showcased beautiful traditional Thai dances and songs, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere with their performances. In Secondary, students displayed their creativity and passion through graceful Thai dances, lively music performances, and speeches that raised awareness about environmental issues. These thoughtful contributions encouraged all of us to reflect on how our actions impact nature and reminded us of our shared responsibility toward the environment.

We were also delighted by the friendly Thai dress-up games between volunteers, students, and teachers, where everyone enjoyed the fun and collaboration. The event’s MCs demonstrated great confidence and preparation, adding to the vibrant and engaging atmosphere. We believe everyone left the celebration with a sense of joy and appreciation for all the performances.
Following the celebration, on Saturday, 16th November, our Year 11–13 Military students, joined by other students and teachers, participated in a post-Loy Krathong beach cleanup at HuaHin Beach. This activity was a wonderful opportunity for our students to understand the environmental impact of our traditions and contribute meaningfully to our community.
A big thank you to everyone for being part of this special occasion and for sharing these wonderful moments with us!

Highlights from the week

Year 3 Showcase - ‘What lies Beneath?’

On Friday 15th November, Year 3 were able to showcase their learning for their topic ‘What Lies Beneath?’ as they presented to their parents all about their fictional islands. They gave justifications for the rules and regulations, which were designed to promote sustainable fishing for all. After this, the students and parents collaborated to design, create and race their own cardboard boats. It was an amazing afternoon of community HHIS spirit!

Secondary Sports Day

We were delighted to host the eagerly anticipated Secondary Sports Day on Tuesday 12th November. It was lovely to welcome so many families as we celebrated our young athletes and the inclusive and friendly spirit shared across our school. The basketball, football, shotput and tug of war events were all competitive with students in Y7-11 representing their team colours. It was great to see parents get involved too! By the end of the relay sprints, the scores for all our teams were so close! By the very finest of margins, the green team won. Very well done to everyone who participated!

IGCSE track training and assessment morning

Following the success of sports day, our Y10 and Y11 IGCSE PE students visited the running track in Chaam on Wednesday last week. The students enjoyed a progressive warm-up and were primed for fast times. Races were hosted for students to record their personal best times in the 100, 200 and 1500-metre distances. It was great to see our students try their best and record times they can use towards their IGCSE assessments. A very big well done and we wish our students continued success in their IGCSE PE program, which includes both practical sport and theory exams.

‘A Golden Kiss’ Gallery Visit

IGCSE and IB Art Students made the trip up to Bangkok on Tuesday to catch 'A Golden Kiss', an immersive gallery experience exploring the work of Gustav Klimt. Klimt's paintings were brought to life in a cacophony of light, colour and music. Students then visited the city's newest development, One Bangkok. This brand-new neighbourhood embraces the possibilities of art and culture in urban living. Our students returned with many photos and ideas to now help develop their own work.

Shoebox Appeal - Jungle Aid Support Project

Students in Y12 and Y13 have been leading Primary and Secondary assemblies to promote this wonderful community support project - can you help?
In collaboration with Jungle Aid, we want to donate as much support as possible to help displaced families around Thailand. All students and families at HHIS are encouraged to prepare boxes that they can gift to a child or family at this time of year. Please use reusable boxes, like containers, instead of shoeboxes, so it's more convenient for people to reuse. Please DO NOT include glass, liquids and things requiring batteries or power. If putting in snacks please avoid anything that might melt. You may also wish to label your box if it is designed for a particular age group or gender, however, it is better if it is suitable for all ages/genders.

All boxes should be brought to school by Wednesday, November 27th. Thank you in advance for your tremendous support.
