Message from the IBDP Coordinator
I am pleased to share that we have recently received a positive full report from our on-site IB evaluation. The visiting team highlighted many strengths of the Diploma Programme at HHIS, including the active promotion of international-mindedness, effective learning environments, and robust student support. Our commitment to inclusion received particularly high praise, with the evaluation team commenting on the “safe, healthy, nurturing environment that reflects the school’s purpose for learning and is characterized by respect for diversity, fairness, and trust.”
Dr. Chalasani and Mr. O’Brien observed a broad selection of senior classes during their visit and praised the consistency of conceptual, contextual, and highly interactive learning engagements. They remarked that students at HHIS are “actively involved in their own learning, as demonstrated by examples of independent inquiry, self-reflection, and peer evaluation.”
I would like to thank all members of the HHIS community—students, staff, directors, and parents—for their valuable participation in this evaluation process. We have made significant progress during our first five-year cycle, successfully establishing a programme that aligns with the IB Programme standards and practices.
The evaluation team recognized our ongoing efforts to embed Approaches to Learning and Theory of Knowledge skills, highlighting the planned involvement of the wider community in the next phase of development. They were also pleased to learn of our plans for expansion of the school facilities and their impact on the programme. We look forward to exciting times ahead as we continue enhancing our school's strengths and addressing areas for growth.
Thank you once again for your support and commitment to HHIS. We look forward to continued growth and success in our IB Diploma Programme.

Message from the Headteacher
Tomorrow we say goodbye and thank you to one of our long standing security guards, Khun Lor. He has kept our students safe at the primary gate for over eight years. We will certainly miss his friendly welcome, and the amazing talent of knowing every student and their car!
Good luck and thank you Khun Lor.
Our remaining security guards continue to do a great job, but may not know all our students immediately so your patience is appreciated at pick up time. Please consider safety first at all times on the roads around the school. A quick reminder that at pick up and drop off times we operate a one way system. Please approach the school from the Black Mountain Golf end of our road and exit via the Black Mountain Waterpark end.
Thank you for your cooperation.

FOBISIA Tennis Tournament – Weekend 2 Recap
The second weekend of the FOBISIA Tennis Tournament was another incredible showcase of skill, sportsmanship, and school spirit. U13, U15, and Over 15 players from all over the FOBISIA schools network were in attendance. 20 different schools from 6 different countries making this a truly international sporting event. Two of our Hawks players took to the courts, delivering outstanding performances across three days of intense competition. Aim (Year 7) and Eva (Year 10) demonstrated not only their technical abilities but also resilience, determination, and teamwork in every match.
A special mention goes to our student helpers, whose dedication and hard work played a crucial role in the vibrant atmosphere of the event. The introduction of our Hawks mascot was a great hit with the tournament attendees!
Adding to the electric atmosphere, our talented student band once again delivered a fantastic performance from the second-floor balcony. Their music brought energy and excitement to the tournament, making it a truly memorable experience for all.
Thank you to our coaches, staff, and the wider school community for their support throughout the event. It was a fantastic weekend of tennis, and a great school community occasion.

Year 5 visit to the Phu Wichit Chocolate Farm
Year 5 visited Phu Wichit Chocolate Farm on Friday as part of our ongoing topic work linking Innovative Inventors with the story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. After a quick tour of the orchards where, along with cacao pods, we saw mango, banana, durian, pomelo and guava being grown; we were treated to a home-grown iced chocolate drink while the process of chocolate-making from bean to bar was explained. A delicious time was had by all!

HHIS United Wardrobe Project
Xander in Y12 is leading a fantastic project to help our wider community with clothing supplies which HHIS students, families and teachers can donate. Xander has presented at Primary and Secondary assemblies about this project and he has said the key to success is working together, so we can help others.
There is now a 'United Wardrobe' collection box located by our Secondary Office. Students and families can bring items to this location and each week the items will be distributed. Xander has already made contact with Jungle Aid and we are delighted that the collection box is already filling up with the first donations.
Here are the key details to help our community in collecting as many clothing items as possible.
-
No extreme stains or marks on the clothing please.
-
Please make sure they are in wearable condition.
-
The items should be clean, washed and be free of odours.
A big thank you to Xander for leading this project and inspiring others to help.

Shared learning and games at Ban Nong Kra Toom School
During Term 2, our Year 9 students visited Ban Nong Kra Toom School to support reading and English learning. This school is part of the Bright Dawn Foundation and the friendships made and enjoyment for everyone has been absolutely fantastic.
In recent weeks, our Y9 girls have worked with the younger children and they have led games and reading activities. The students at Ban Nong Krathong School were very happy to meet their new friends and quickly the girls were asked if they could support students from two classes! It was lovely to see over 60 students from HHIS and Ban Nong Krathung reading together, sharing English and Thai language and having a lot of fun.
Our Year 9 students will now continue to reflect and discuss this service project and think about the new skills, ideas and experiences they have gained. We are very proud of them and importantly their work has shown the importance of collaboration and working in partnership with our school community. The Bright Dawn Foundation provides wonderful support to so many children in Hua Hin and we look forward to developing many future projects with them - https://brightdawnfoundation.org/

Goats in the Early Years Garden
We had some special visitors to the Early Years garden last week - the goats from Pran Por Piang Organic Farm! The children helped to feed the hungry goats and observed their features closely. We learnt about what goats like to eat and what they like to play. This experience enhanced the children’s recent learning around the story, ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ and developed their understanding of caring for animals and the environment. It was a real treat to have animals in our garden and it led to lots of discussion about our pets at home and visits to the farm with our families.

EY3 Visit to Parrotdise Organic Farm
EY3 recently embarked on their first field trip, visiting Parrotdise Organic Farm for a morning of hands-on learning and adventure. Equipped with sunhats and garden tools, the children eagerly got to work planting lettuce, learning how to mix the soil just right to help their plants grow. After planting, they collected fresh eggs from the hens and gained insight into the life of a chicken. The exploration continued as they met a variety of animals, including a tortoise, a playful baby goat, colorful fish, and several beautiful bird species. It was a truly special day of exploration and connection with nature. Venturing out into the world together made for a meaningful experience- one that we are sure the students will remember for a long time!
