Message from the Headteacher
Thank you to the parents who came to the Headteacher’s Coffee Morning this morning, when I shared some of the updates and developments that have been happening at HHIS over the past few months.
In the meeting I shared an update on our building project. The classroom block next to the Julie Way building will house six classrooms and is well underway. It will be ready for use in August 2025. The multipurpose hall will be ready for use in Term 2, next academic year. It will have a sprung wooden floor that is FIBA approved and certified competition standard, which will please our basketball players! Both buildings have integrated air con and air purifiers, and we are hoping to be able to install solar panels on the roof.

Another exciting update to share with you is that we have engaged getfresh to take over the school catering from August 2025. They are a leading health-conscious restaurant group in Thailand, who also provide catering services for international schools. As well as catering the school lunches and snacks, they are planning to install a “pop-up” kiosk selling healthy snacks and drinks (and coffee for the grown ups!)

Road safety was another very important item discussed. You will have noticed the new school signs on the main road. We continue to work with Hin Lek Fai authorities to introduce further road safety and traffic management measures. In the meantime, may I remind the school community once again to please adhere to the one -way system and to drive slowly in the school vicinity.
The school is growing and with this steady growth we are able to offer more courses, facilities and other opportunities for our students. We now have overnight residential trips for all year groups from Year 6. We have more sporting fixtures on the calendar, both at school and away, and we have over 80 extracurricular activities on offer. We have also expanded the courses we offer in IGCSE and IB Diploma, including Music, Economics and French.
As we plan for the next academic year, and as interest in our school grows, we ask that you help us by completing this non-binding intention survey. Some of you may have firm plans to move on, some of you may still be unsure, many of you will be sure you are staying. Whatever your plans may be or however uncertain they are at this time, we ask that you please take the time to complete this questionnaire based on your most likely expectations.
We thank all our families for their continued support and look forward to these exciting new developments.

The IB Visual Arts Exhibition
The IBDP Visual Art students presented their final Exhibition on the 20th March with an evening viewing for secondary students, staff and families. There was a great turn out for the opening address, with some eloquent speaking by Elisa. She gave a wonderful introduction to the work of Arisa, Faby, Nina, Ingrid, Leonie and Briony. Each artist has created a highly individual body of work, exploring a range of themes through a broad variety of mediums and techniques. Classes across the school have had the opportunity to visit the show, with an especially lovely interaction between 9B and EY3, with both classes collaboratively enjoying the visual feast on display!

Another rewarding weekend of Model United Nations has drawn to a close. Ben, Elsa, Eva, Flo, Jamie, Michelle, Kirill, Liam and Sadie represented HHIS at the biggest Model United Nations event in Southeast Asia, with 568 delegates representing 84 schools from 10 countries. Debating issues as wide-ranging as global drug distribution, fairness and inclusion in international sports, and safety standards in the age of maritime automation, our delegates carried themselves with respect, maturity and diplomacy throughout. In addition to commending all nine of our representatives, we extend special congratulations to Flo, who received the honourable mention award in the UK Parliamentary Committee, and to Kirill, who was awarded Best Delegate in the Human Rights Council.

A big well done to our Year 7 project teams, who successfully hosted the first ever HHIS Pop-Up Event on Wednesday 19th March. This exciting showcase allowed Year 7 to share their research, business and collaborative problem-solving skills with their peers from Y1 - Y13. The day was a buzz with events, from bake sales to running challenges and lucky dips to magic tricks; all of which set the platform to raise awareness for local, national and global problems and share inspiring initiatives as potential solutions.

We share thanks to our whole school community for their support, engagement and participation. The money raised exceeded 40,000thb, which will be donated to The Bright Dawn Foundation, Jungle Aid, Rescue P.A.W.S, Generosity.org, Manushya, Coral Reef Alliance and Unicef. These charities support a range of causes, from providing educational resources to protecting the coral reef, to supporting remote communities to equal opportunities in the workplace. Thank you again to everyone for their support. We are very proud of Year 7 for making a big impact.

Year 5 visit to Chang Hua Man Royal Project
Year 5 spent a wonderful morning at Chang Hua Man Royal Project last Thursday. We were given a guided tour around the project, learning about their sustainable energy features, the different crops being grown and the dairy production facility.
We then enjoyed a delicious lunch at their restaurant and looked at a vintage aeroplane and helicopter before heading back to school.
