Message from the Headteacher

Last Tuesday we held a Headteacher’s Coffee Morning with the focus on planning for the future of HHIS. It is a good time to have this conversation with the school community as we approach our 10th birthday next year in 2025. We have invited input from the school staff and students, and on Tuesday it was the turn of the parents. The key questions we are asking are:
  • What do we love about this school?
  • Why do we send our children here?
  • What do we want to make sure we keep at the school grows and develops?
  • What areas do we see for growth and improvement?
  • What areas might we change?
I would like to thank all parents who attended for their thoughtful input. We will be sending out an electronic version of the survey after the holidays so all parents have the opportunity to contribute their ideas and a summary will be shared.
Important safety update
After a breakage of a window in the canteen last week, all the glass in the school was professionally inspected and it became apparent that a small number of the panes do not meet the required specifications for safety glass.
This error occurred during construction and will be corrected over the Songkran holidays, beginning at the end of this week. After this, all the glass in the school will meet laminated safety glass specifications. In the meantime, some areas of the school have been cordoned off, and temporary safety film has been placed on key sections of glass.
Our paramount concern is always the safety of our students and all members of the school community, and I am confident that everything will be up to the correct standard by the start of term 3.
Happy Holidays!
Finally I would like to wish everyone a restful and enjoyable holiday. Personally, I can't believe we are almost at Term 3, and my first year at HHIS will be done! At this time of year our focus is on planning for the upcoming academic year. With this in mind, we ask that you help us by completing this non-binding intention survey. Some of you may have firm plans to move on, some of you may still be unsure, many of you will be sure you are staying.whatever your plans may be or however uncertain they are at this time, we ask that you please take the time to complete this questionnaire based on your most likely expectations.
For those of you who celebrated Easter last weekend, a belated Happy Easter, for those of you who will celebrate Eid in the holidays, Eid Mubarak and for everyone a very happy and joyful Songkran!

Highlights from the week!

FOBISIA U13 Games
Our intrepid Under 13 Hawks travelled to Chonburi this week to meet 8 other schools from all over South East Asia, ready for action in 4 different sports. The team spirit was outstanding with this group and they supported, cheered and pushed each other all the way.
The first day saw the Hawks win dozens of medals with grit and determination on the track and in the field for athletics. In the afternoon they were cooking in the pool, seemingly the podium always had an HHIS swimmer there! Basketball was up next, and both teams were playing really well. However the girls had more of an edge over their opposition and powered their way top of the group winning the semi final. They fell just short in the final but to win a silver trophy against these top international schools is a huge achievement.

The final day brought football and another chance for glory. The boys had a tough group and just missed out on the semi finals, however they won their final game in style showing how far they had come as a team. The girls again topped their group but semi-final penalty heartache sent them to the bronze trophy match. Here they showed just how resilient they are when Alisa skipped past two defenders and fired the ball into the corner with just seconds left in the match! The celebrations were wild and they fully deserved yet another trophy.

Well done to all of the students involved, they have made new friends, lifelong memories and us very proud! LETS GO HAWKS!
Group 4 Science Project
Our Year 12 IB Diploma students carried out their Collaborative Science Project Last week. The project is an interdisciplinary activity where students from different group 4 subjects work together on a scientific or technological topic, allowing for concepts and perceptions from across the disciplines to be shared. They travelled to Khao Tao Beach and reservoir, where they had have the opportunity to collect data to answer their research questions:

The students collected a range of data in different ways and will present their findings in the form of an official scientific poster. Their scientific posters will also be viewable on Science Day, at the end of Term 3. They have worked extremely well together, showing inclusivity while working collaboratively and being both imaginative and intrepid when collecting the data.
EY3 Visit to Parrotdise Organic Farm
On their first bus ride and school trip for many students, EY3 had a blast at Parrotdise Farm! They dove into the fun, collecting eggs, meeting a cool tortoise, and feeding the goats. Being little farmers for the day, they even grew their own lettuce! It was a day of laughs, adventure, and memories they'll treasure forever. A true bonding experience for EY3.
Puppy Dash Development Swim Meet at Bangkok Prep
Our youngest swimmers were in action on Saturday morning. 27 of our Junior Hawks Swim Squad were involved in the Bangkok Prep Puppy Dash. This was hosted at the Bangkok Prep Primary Campus with twenty-four schools from around Bangkok attending this fantastic event. Thisevent introduces young swimmers to a swim competition environment. We had swimmers competing in all three of the event categories, 6-7 Year old, 8-9 Year old and the 10-11 Year old. For many of our swimmers it was their first taste of this environment and they all showed great energy and enthusiasm and had an excellent morning of swimming. Lots of smiling faces and some amazing performances from the young Hawks. Well done to all involved and a huge thank you to Ms Pla and Coach Hin for their support and guidance.

Celebrating student success!

Congratulations to Alex in Year 10 who has been training with the Thailand National Under 17 Football Squad. Alex has also participated in a recent game and at the age of just 14, he is the youngest of all players in the squad. He has really enjoyed the experience and we wish him continued success. Well done Alex!
