Message from the Headteacher
|
Welcome back to the final term of this academic year. Exam season has started, so I would like to wish our Year 11 and Year 13 all the best as they take their IGCSE and IBDP exams over the coming weeks.
|
The last day of Term 2 was a hive of activity at HHIS with our Songkran celebrations. Many thanks to the parents who helped with the Thai Fair. This was such a successful event, which not only brought the HHIS community together, but also raised 37,950 Baht for Hua Hin Special Children’s School. This is a relatively new school in the Black Mountain area that offers educational and learning support to children who have difficulty with speech and language, are deaf, blind, on the autism spectrum, or have emotional and behavioural issues. We look forward to building a working relationship with this school.

Planning for the future of HHIS: parents input
|
Following on from the Headteacher’s Coffee Morning last term, we would like to make sure that all parents have the opportunity to share their ideas on planning for the future of HHIS. The key questions we asked were:
|
- What do we love about this school?
- Why do we send our children here?
- What do we want to make sure we keep at the school grows and develops?
- What areas do we see for growth and improvement?
- What areas might we change?
We invite you to share your ideas on this Google Form. The form is separated into different areas of the school to help us collate your ideas.

We are pleased to report that all the windows and doors in the canteen, and other affected areas, are now laminated safety glass in line with the school's specification. There are a few more windows to replace this coming weekend, but these are in lower risk areas.
|
In light of this issue, the Board of Directors is engaging a company to conduct a professional safety inspection of all our buildings. This will take place in the next week or so.

Eco-club updates
Each week we will share with you some of the important initiatives that have been started by our school Eco-club. This week we start with an important announcement about school lunches:
|
We are from the eco committee at HHIS and we would like to inform you about a Vegetarian day, that we are trying to host every once a month, as part of our ongoing commitment to achieving a sustainable and eco-friendly environment at HHIS. We are aware that some parents may be concerned with this as they are worried about their children not getting the nutrition they need but it is only one meal a month. There is also plenty of nutrition and minerals available in a plant based diet, protein can be found in tofu, eggs and beans. The menu will consist of a bunch of delicious vegetarian dishes that have been suggested by students in the school. Although the change is small, it can really help reduce the amount of pollution created by the school and provide a larger variety of food for the students to try.
We are aiming to have our first Vegetarian Tuesday on the 7th May.
