Message from the Headteacher
Last year the whole HHIS community spent time sharing their thoughts on our wonderful school, what we do well, what we can improve and what we can develop in the future. All members of the community had the opportunity to contribute, from the students, teachers, parents and support and office staff. It was notable how similar the feedback was from each group. Our community knows the school well, and has similar hopes and dreams for the future.
Our strategic direction falls into four categories and is supported by a buildings development plan that is already underway. We are at the design stage of the next phase and the school community will be advised of project details and construction schedule in the near future.

A summary of our strategic goals
1. School culture and community
HHIS is a proudly inclusive school, with strong values and a positive culture. As we grow and develop the school, we will develop our engagement with the community: the parents, our local and international community, while nurturing and preserving this positive culture.
- Review our school mission and values and ensure they are known and understood by the whole community
- Safeguard our school culture and values as the school community grows
- Build on community engagement and inspire action
- Develop parents as partners in their children's learning
We will develop our curriculum, our teaching and student learning to ensure that we are preparing all our students for success today and in the future.
- Develop an innovative and international curriculum from Early Years to Year 13
- Develop an inquiry and skills based approach to teaching that is differentiated to meet the needs of all learners and informed by assessment
- Meet and challenge the needs of all our learners in our inclusive school
- Inspire and support all our staff to be on a path of learning, reflection and growth
We will ensure that the safety and well being of all members of the school community is at the heart of what we do.
- Develop the HHIS campus so it continues to be a safe and pleasant environment to learn and work
- Create an inclusive and supportive environment where every community member feels valued and respected
- Offer a range of extracurricular activities that build community, personal balance and enhance well-being
4. Care for the environment
We will improve our sustainable practices in the school to develop a community of socially responsible global citizens.
- Continue the HHIS campus development to provide world class learning facilities that support sustainability and environmental protection
- Promote and embed sustainable practices in our school, our curriculum and our community
- Develop partnerships and activities with local environmental organisations
I extend a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed their thoughts and ideas last year.

Highlights from the week
Our HHIS Playgroup opened its doors this week. By popular demand we are now running the playgroup on three mornings a week. The playgroup is an opportunity for babies and toddlers to take their first steps in their learning, as well as an opportunity for parents and carers to meet and socialise. Our youngest learners explore the garden, sing songs, read stories and engage in a wide range of sensory and play based activities.

Over the past two weeks, we have conducted parent welcome meetings for our Early Years and Primary classes. It has been wonderful to see so many families attending, meeting their children’s new teachers and finding out about the year ahead.

We are delighted to congratulate Varvara in Year 8 who has achieved tremendous golfing success this summer. Varvara trained every day for many hours and played in numerous tournaments across different cities and courses. Varvara won a number of competition prizes including, winner of the All-Russian competition for 8-12 year olds, winner of the Golden Golf Club for 7-14 year olds and Young Golfer for 7-14 year olds. Varvara’s hard work paid off and we wish her continued success this year.
