Message from the Headteacher
As we enter the final month of this academic year, we would like to start to introduce some of our new teachers who will join us in August. Over the next few weeks we will share their biographies. We are committed to keeping reasonable class sizes, and are therefore investing in more teachers for the secondary school. In addition, we are continuing to grow our curriculum by introducing new courses which include: Economics in the IGCSE programme and three new courses in the IB Diploma programme: School Supported Self Taught Literature, Geography and Mathematics Analysis and Approaches.
This week we introduce three of our new teachers: Amber Perry, William Boardman and David Rama.
We look forward to welcoming them to our wonderful HHIS community in August.

Introducing our new teachers
Amber Perry has a degree in Mathematics and Meteorology and over 10 years of experience in mathematics education; teaching in both the UK and Thailand.
“My approach to education is all about creating a positive, student-centred environment where learners feel confident to ask questions, make mistakes, and take ownership of their learning. Outside of the classroom I'm usually chasing after my 1 year old, spending time in nature or reading if I get a rare quiet moment!”

William Boardman has a degree in Biology and is currently working in a secondary school in Wales.
“I first discovered my passion for education while working as a teaching technician at the Veterinary Anatomy School at the University of Bristol. This inspiration led me to pursue a PGCE in science and I am now teaching secondary science in a vibrant school in Wales. Here I have developed a deep appreciation for guiding young minds through the wonders of biology, chemistry, and physics. My hobbies and passions include playing and coaching sports, particularly football, cooking and exploring new cuisines.”

David Rama has a Bachelor of Education in Ethics and English and is about to start studying for his Masters in Education. He is currently working in a school in Hong Kong.
“From the moment I first stepped into a classroom, I knew I wanted to help students see history and language as living, relevant parts of their lives. My journey has taken me from Belgium to Hong Kong working with learners from all over the world. I thrive on making lessons engaging—whether that means utilising technology, sparking debates, or connecting past to present-day challenges. Along the way, I discovered a passion for intercultural training, helping both students and teachers navigate diverse, multilingual environments. I’m fluent in English and Dutch, speak some Albanian, and love the challenge of adapting my teaching for different backgrounds.”

A big thank you to our hosts at the OTOP (One Tambon One Product)Tourism Community at Ruam Thai House, where our Y7 students were able to participate in a range of activities which included tie dyeing fabric, making products from pineapples and creating mulberry paper.

Following the day of learning about OTOP trade, our teachers and students transferred to their hotel in Kui Buri. We are very proud of our students as they worked brilliantly together to clean the beach and collect many bags of washed up plastic on the beach. After the litter-pick, there was the chance for volleyball, football, sand castle building and lots of laughs with friends.

Thank you to all families for their support and thank you to our teachers for leading this memorable experience for our students.

Last week our EY3 and Year 6 students shared a lovely performance for EY3 parents at ‘Stay and Play’. The children have been working collaboratively over the past few months to create their poems and they thoroughly enjoyed the chance to celebrate their work together. Well done to all the children involved for their intrepid approach and fantastic imagination!

HHIS Shines at the World Scholar’s Cup Regional Round in Bangkok!

We are excited to share that a team of HHIS students—Zen, Joe, Tia, Jasmin, and Sadie—recently took part in the World Scholar’s Cup Regional Round in Bangkok. This global academic event brings together students from around the world to celebrate learning, collaboration, and curiosity. Our scholars competed in a range of challenging events, including Team Debate, Collaborative Writing, and the Scholar’s Challenge, putting their critical thinking and teamwork to the test alongside students from dozens of other international schools.
We are proud to announce that HHIS has now advanced to the next stage of the competition—the Global Round, where top-performing teams from across the world will gather for an unforgettable academic and cultural experience.
Congratulations to Zen, Joe, Tia, Jasmine, and Sadie for their fantastic performance and for representing HHIS with such enthusiasm and spirit. Alpacas united!

Running and Spartan Races
Over the weekend, we had staff and students participating in a number of local fitness events and we wish to share particular praise for our Primary students who took part in the Kids’ Spartan Race. This involved an obstacle course challenge which tested their strength, stamina, and perseverance. The 7-9 age group children completed a 1.6km course, while the 10-14 year old children tackled a tougher 3.2km course. Everyone of our Junior Spartans should feel very proud - it was fantastic to see their determination and muddy smiles!

There has been a buzz of friendly competition amongst our students and staff as they have participated in basketball and football matches recently. The students were victorious in both the male and female basketball matches - well done! On Friday after school, the staff football team managed to claim the win and it was great to see everyone having fun and celebrating together!
