HHIS Newsletter – October 26th 2020

Thank you to you all for coming to meet with teachers last Friday. It is really important to maintain our close partnership with you even whilst restrictions are in place, as this is paramount to your children’s wellbeing and success. It was lovely to see you all and we particularly appreciate your efforts to attend on a Public Holiday. Hua Hin Food Bank Christmas Stall Thank you also for your very generous support for the Hua Hin Foodbank Christmas Stall that was kindly run by Elaine Short on Friday. The stall raised over 6380 THB on the day. If you would like to order further items for Christmas the link is: https://www.facebook.com/christmascraftsthailand. Loy Krathong Charity Day Our Loy Krathong Charity Day will be held on Thursday October 29th. Small gifts and food items will be available for the children to buy on that day. We ask that children bring in small amounts of money to be able to buy coupons. These coupons for the stalls will be available from tomorrow. Loy Krathong Celebrations We will be celebrating Loy Krathong in school, on Friday October 30th and we invite everyone to wear traditional Thai costumes. Students will be able to make Krathongs and bring them home to float with their families. Swimming Pool We are all looking forward to the completion of our 25m swimming pool together with the teaching space above the changing rooms. We expect children to be swimming in our new pool before the end of this term. KS2’s ‘Ideal Community’ The topic for KS2 last term was ‘Our Community’. Our aim was to understand the meaning of community, compare different communities together and to understand what contributes to an ideal community. To apply this knowledge, the children were tasked with planning, designing and creating a model of their own ideal community, which was later presented as a whole key stage. As you hopefully saw on Friday it was a great example of the KS2 community coming together to present their ideas! Mr Rob Whole School Creativity Competition Congratulations to everyone for all the wonderful ideas submitted for the Creativity Competition. A big thank you to Emaan, Anya and Sophia B and Sophia P (Y7), Malou and Rose (Y10) and Gianna (Y12) for organising this opportunity. There were over 50 entries received and every student deserves praise for their individual and inspired creations. These included clay work, junk modelling, poetry, sketches, digital art and more! More pictures will be shared soon and the Secondary Council will be congratulating every individual for their amazing work! Have a Happy Loy Krathong!
