Message from our very active Eco Team
The Eco Team has been working very hard this term and we would like to share some of our main highlights and projects with you.

Aquaponics: After having the final design approved by the team, all materials have now been ordered and the Y12 team is already building the Aquaponics system behind the library. Mr Surin from Bon Kai Aquarium kindly came to give our students advice and will custom design our very own fish tank, which will complete the project.

Compost system: Mr Eduardo together with some Eco Team members are working hard in the Compost bins project, which are located behind the basketball court. Together with the school maintenance team, they are building the Compost bins using the Y7’s designs and following the advice given by our friends at Trash Heroes in the Riad Hotel.

Waste warriors: continuing with the campaign ‘Food waste reduction’ from their Y10 Global perspectives research, Malou and Lisa have been working on displays to be placed in the canteen, to encourage students to think about the amount of food that goes to waste and how to avoid it. Food waste has already been reduced.

The final Eco group, composed of some Y6 and Y12 students have been working on the ‘inform, analysis and evaluation’ processes of the Eco board. Students have designed questionnaires, analysed data, created the Eco code and Eco logo campaign and act as board members to decide on sustainable prices and future steps for our action plan.We are delighted to be able to formally announce the winners of our Eco Pledge and Eco logo! It certainly wasn’t easy deciding with the amount of excellent entries we were faced with, however, we all felt both Nellie’s and Jasmine’s compositions, really embraced the Eco spirit at HHIS

We would like to congratulate all students for their contributions, with a special mention to Nelly (y7) and Jasmine T (Y5)On a final note, if you feel that as a parent/carer, that you could contribute to the Eco Team
