We warmly welcomed our secondary students back into school this morning. Thank you to everyone for ensuring that all the required precautionary measures were fulfilled.
We will continue to adhere rigorously to all the measures advised by the Public Health Ministry in order to minimise risks of cases of COVID-19 and any possible spreading of the infection. The Ministries of Public Health and Education as well as the Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan will monitor procedures closely with a view to allowing Primary and Early Years to return into school.
Vaccinations
I was very encouraged by the high percentage of our school community who have already been vaccinated at least once. This will greatly minimise the effects of the virus and will boost our chances of gaining approval for our younger students to return.
Student Vaccinations
Vaccinations for 12 to 18 year olds are now beginning. This needs to be completed through the school and a detailed email has been sent to parents in Year 8 to Year 13 to give details of registration.
Primary Sports Activity
We will be holding a sports session for our Primary students starting this Wednesday – September 15th – at 4:00pm. Limited outdoor activities are permitted in the recent Government announcement and these sessions will give students a chance to enjoy some physical/social activities. Mr Aaron has provided details and asks parents to complete this brief form:
Fitness Fun!
A big well done to the 31 students who enjoyed their Sunday morning with lots of games, drills, sprints and team activities on the basketball court and school field. It was great to see all our students forming new friendships and taking on the challenge of ‘fitness fun’. A big thank you also to Ms Ali for her support and enthusiasm. The music was an added bonus! COVID-19 Precautions – FAQs with the guidance of the Ministry of Health
Understandably I have been asked many questions regarding the followup procedures to minimise risk of infections once students are back in school. Here are some common questions:
What should I do if my child has a positive AKT result?
A followup PCR test at a hospital or clinic is needed and this will confirm the result.
What happens if my child has a positive PCR test?
Your child will need to quarantine for at least 14 days. The hospital will advise if this can be at home or in the hospital. Close contacts are also advised to get tested.
What will happen if a child in the same class has a Positive PCR test result?
Close contacts of the child will need to take an AKT result as soon as it is known and again on the 5th and 8th day. Following a negative test result on the 5th day, the children can return to school. The classroom (s) will be disinfected and the Public Health informed.
What is meant by random AKT testing?
We will need to request random testing of whole classes. We will inform parents of the class involved on a Thursday evening so that the test can be carried out in the 72 hours before the next Monday morning.
And the most commonly asked question…
When will Primary and Early Years Students be allowed back into school?
This has not been confirmed but we are hopeful for October 1st. Please be assured that we are doing our very best to gain approval for all our students to return to our campus and for us all to learn to live as safely as possible in this ‘new normal’ world.
