We continue to rigorously adhere to precautionary measures against COVID-19. Thank you to the students in Year 11 who all returned negative ATK results this week. All Secondary teachers have also been successfully tested.
Primary and Early Years
We continue to be in constant contact with the local Ministries of Education and Public Health in order to gain updates on reopening physically for Primary and Early Years. They have not yet given us a date to reopen. Their decision not to allow Primary Schools and Early Years settings remains in place for all Primary schools in Prachuap Khiri Khan. There is likely to be a national announcement this week and of course we hope that this will be positive and pave the way for our local authorities to allow all Primary students to return. We will continue to keep in touch with the Ministries and will let you know immediately once news comes through.
In order to be fully prepared for our next presentation to the Ministries of Education and Public Health and the Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan in order to gain approval to fully reopen our campus, it would be helpful if parents of Primary and Early Years students could complete this short questionnaire: https://forms.gle/TMSK1Y3y6RsXnjA66
Please also note that once we do gain approval to open we would like to be able to react quickly. All Primary and Early Years students will need to supply a negative Covid-19 Antigen Test Kit within 72 hours of returning to school. You can buy these tests from local pharmacies.
Primary Sports Activities
These will take place on Friday October 1st this week.
Wai Kru Day
This traditional ceremony will take place for Secondary students on Thursday September 30th. The ceremony will begin at 8:30am. We ask that students are particularly prompt in their arrival at school on this morning. Primary students and Early Years students will be able to take part in a Wai Kru ceremony and celebrate the joy of learning when they return to school.
ECAs
ECAs for Secondary students will begin this week. The school buses will leave school at 4:30pm. ECAs for Primary will begin from the very first day that students are permitted to return to school.
Parents’ Meetings
Parents’ meetings this term will need to be held virtually. These meetings are opportunities for you to find out how your children have settled into the term, to talk about the progress they are making and how they will be supported in their next steps. Phase leaders will be giving details of the appointment schedules. Please note that Monday October 25th is a public holiday and training day for teachers.
Construction Update
Construction of the Secondary three storey building is going well and all is on time for the planned opening of January 2022. Specialist teachers have been able to go in and give input on the design of the Art, Music and Computer facilities, particularly. Internal walls are going up and it is taking shape quickly.
Once construction of this building is completed, construction of a full-sized covered basketball court will begin. This will be located between the two swimming pools.
Celebration of Learning
Year 3D had a real treat this week thanks to Rica’s grandmother who dropped into the class to tell them all about life in India, including the physical features, which was all part of their topic. The children were really excited and listened really intently and asked innovative questions. A big thank you to Rica’s grandmother for taking the time to inspire the children.
The creativity of students never ceases to amaze. This week in art KS2 were challenged by Ms Sarah to flex their creative muscles and transform a cardboard tube into an inspirational, imaginative piece of art.
The incredible variety of pieces was inspiring as students thoughtfully used found materials and applied artistic skills to express their individual creativity with incredible results! Here are just a few on the highly imaginative creations from Ben (above) Stephan, William and ShuYang.
Mr Aaron has shared the learning of year 12 sports science students in their IB anatomy lesson this week. Sports Science has become a popular subject at IB level and includes study of muscular and skeletal systems.
