We are continuing to plan for all our students to be back on campus from November 15th. As soon as we get the final confirmation of this I will notify you immediately.
Loy Krathong Celebrations
We will be celebrating this Thai traditional festival on Friday November 19th. The festival is a time to let go of sorrows and worries, which is particularly poignant for us all at the moment. The beautiful Thai festival is also a time to give thanks, appreciation and to make amends to the water goddess, Phra Mae Khongkha. These Thai customs are again totally in keeping with the global drive to respect and appreciate our environment.
Students will be making Loy Krathongs in their classrooms and will attend Thai Performance shows and a Thai Temple Fair class by class to ensure that the ‘bubbles’ are maintained.
Students are encouraged to dress in Thai costume.
Loy Krathong Thai Temple Fair – Fund Raising
The Fair will be raising funds for the charity ‘ Operation Smile’. Students can buy coupons from Friday November 12th. It is suggested that students buy coupons of up to 50 to 200 thb. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the Thai Fair will not be able to have food for sale but there will be crafts and Thai traditional games to play.
In the morning, a Loy Krathong making session will be held in the students’ classrooms supported by Thai teachers and TAs.
Remembrance Day
In the UK November 11th is a day to remember those that have given their lives in order to secure peace in conflicts across the world. Alma, Noah and Jessica in Year 12 would like to raise funds for families of servicemen and women who need support and will be selling poppies in school from tomorrow, Tuesday November 9th.
Basketball Competition
50 students across KS3 took part in our Basketball competition. There were lots of exciting end to end games with high scoring. Many of our students were very intrepid, taking part in this competition for the very first time. A special congratulations to both of the Blue teams (boys & girls) who topped the table and won this years competition. Mr Aaron
Sunday Fun and Fitness
A big well done to everyone, who made the early morning Sunday run session. Great fun was had by all as we played lots of different games and activities. It was a pleasure to host our younger runners. Thank you to parents for your support. Mr Lewis
Friday Sports Club and ECAs
Last Friday was the last of the Friday Sports Club sessions. It has been great to see the children out on the field and being active. Thanks go to Mr Aaron, Mr Mike, Ms Pla and Mr Von.
ECAs for Primary will commence on the first day the children return to school. Once we gain final confirmation of the reopening, you will receive further information regarding the ECAs.
KS2 are Entrepreneurs
Years 3 to 6 are starting the week by taking part in a ‘We Are Entrepreneurs’ day. The children will have 6 different workshops which are linked around entrepreneurial skills, such as critical thinking, managing money and communicating effectively. This will give the children the opportunity to understand and develop their entrepreneurial skills, which they will then need a apply as they design, market and sell crafts and games to play at the Christmas fair at the end of the term to raise money for Operation Smile.
