The week ahead is a busy one as we approach our half term holiday. This is particularly so for KS2 students who will be visiting the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand.
Year 12 and 13 will be meeting Dr Mallika from ‘Be Well’ clinic on Friday afternoon as part of their ‘Wellness’ focus. We are pleased to be making this link with Dr Mallika and opening up discussions about mental health.
Friday February 11th will be a student initiated non-uniform day to support the local Food Banks.
We will also be moving equipment into the new Secondary building in readiness for our return to school on Monday February 21st.

Non-Uniform Day – Friday February 11th
We would like to dedicate Friday February 11th to be a pre-valentines celebration and raise funds for Hua Hin Food Bank charity. The day will be a non-uniform day and students will be invited to wear anything pink or red.
Please can students can bring in non-perishable food, for example rice, oil, canned food, any dried foods, dried or canned food for dogs or they can pay 30baht and it will be collected in the morning during registration. We highly encourage students to participate because FoodBank is a charity which specifically helps local communities in Hua Hin (due to covid circumstances, our donations will be very beneficial). Presentation to Operation Smile
Sam, Michelle and Peggy represented our school in a virtual presentation to mark the transfer of funds raised at Christmas to Operation Smile. Each student proudly gave details of their fundraising. Mr Dean from Operation Smile was amazed by the efforts and support of the whole school community to raise an incredible 68,076thb. Mr Dean was so impressed that he has invited students to actually attend a clinic to see how lives are transformed through cleft surgery later in the year. The Enterprise group took a lead in the fundraising but it was the drive of the whole school that made the events so successful. Thank you Ms Neina and Ms Ali in particular.
News from the Eco Garden
Students from primary and secondary are now actively involved in looking after our Eco Garden.
Every morning, a set of students from different year groups are helping to water and collect food from the Eco Garden, learning about plants, growing food and self-sufficiency.
Y10’s are finishing their new Garden Logo and we are proud to have had our very first harvest of mini tomatoes.
Music Spotlight
Ms Neina has initiated a monthly spotlight on musicians. Each month a student from KS2, a student from KS3 and a famous musician will be spotlighted to celebrate musical achievements. Please explore this month’s spotlighted musicians Anya, Phoenix and Mendelssohn, as highlighted on our HHIS facebook page.

Covid-19 Update
Our local public health officials have been complimentary in the way our school has responded and managed the cases of Covid 19 that have arisen within our school community. It is likely that there will continue to be cases for a while yet, so we will persevere with our strict precautions to minimise the spread.
For any cases that do occur in our older year groups, we will now identify the high risk contacts only. This could avoid whole classes having to quarantine as, given our social distancing within classrooms, close contact will be negligible and be considered a low risk.
You will always be notified if there is a positive case of Covid-19 in your child’s class and we will inform you if your child is considered to be high risk and will need to quarantine or if your child is low risk and will need to be monitored but can still attend school.
Healthy plates
Keeping fit and healthy at the moment is particularly important. Year 6R led the way on this last week as they learnt and presented their ‘Eatwell’ plates. https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/eat-well/the-eatwell-guide/
EY2’s Teddy Bears’ Picnic
EY2 took their favourite teddy bears and soft toys from home on a Teddy Bears’ Picnic. After learning the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, the children made food for their bears. We baked and decorated cookies and made sandwiches. The children showed amazing independence at choosing their sandwich fillings and using tools for spreading and cutting. We all enjoyed eating the picnic together, whilst singing our favourite bear songs and reading a story.
Please keep safe and well over the half term break and we look forward to welcoming all our students back on Monday February 21st.
Best wishes,
