The innovative skills of our school community are shining through as online learning continues with ever evolving new ways of motivating and engaging students. Glimpses of learning have included: rockets hurtling across gardens, the invention of new olympic sports, amazing origami, time travel to Ancient Egypt, sock painting, space travel and using minecraft to represent the breakdown of peace in the 1930s. The innovation of our students, teachers and parents is quite astonishing. A snapshot of home-learning across the school is presented below. Thank you for your continued support.

IGCSE Examinations
Having been granted permission by the Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan and following strict protocol, our Year 11 students are sitting their IGCSE exams. Following Cambridge International’s cancellation of public examinations in Thailand, these are internal exams and will form part of the evidence for our final grades. We have great respect for the resilience being shown by these students in the face of the challenging circumstances and greatly admire their positive approach. We wish them all well with their exams.

Preparations for a return to School
Although there has been a further delay to opening, we have been asked by the Office of Private Education Commission to share the ‘Thai Save Thai‘ app. Please download the app and be ready to use it when we do all return into school. https://savethai.anamai.moph.go.th/main.php

Composting is Coming!
Last term, Year 7 students designed some highly inventive composting systems and these designs have now become a reality. Our technicians are putting the final touches to the two different structures in readiness for composting to begin in earnest, once we return. Not only is this a great step forward in our care for the environment but it is a strong message that each individual in our community can make a difference. Thank you Year 7. Thanks also go to Mr Eduardo as well as our very skilful Technicians.

Eco Team Competition
The Eco Team congratulate the winners of the Eco Competition, Nellie and Jasmine T for their particularly creative ideas. All entries were greatly appreciated by the team. The artist, Sonny Chugani has produced reusable water bottles with our own pledges engraved upon them for the winners.

Fobisia Student Leadership Conference
We are in the process of applying to become a member of the Federation of British International Schools In Asia (FOBISIA) Membership will give our students access to a wider community of events and activities and as candidate members we were invited to take part in the Student Leadership Conference. Last week Leah, Lisa, Malou and Gianna grasped this opportunity and took part in this exciting event led by Nexus International School, Malaysia.
https://sites.google.com/nexus.edu.my/fobisia-nexus-leadership/ The students’ reflections (https://www.facebook.com/huahininternationalschool/posts/4318382218195061) show just how much the conference ignited their passion and aspirations. Well done to Leah, Lisa, Malou and Gianna for your commitment and efforts to broaden your skills; you are well on your way to becoming leaders.

We look forward to extending our school community further with the pursuit of full membership of FOBISIA.

In Art, our Year 9 students have been very imaginative by selecting a word and an object at random from their home. Then as a group, they are beginning to create an original short story around these items. In the coming weeks they will be fully illustrating their story in the style of an Art movement. Here is preview from Xavier, Faby, Pinky, Maxim.

Year 5 have been amazing astronauts and have visited a range of planets in our solar system. They travelled through space to visit the planet that interested them most and then made a video, all about their trip, research and findings to send back to Earth, to help teach earthlings about their planet! We had SUCH a range of fun, innovative videos and really enjoyed our intrepid trips into space! Below you can see some screenshots of the fantastic video we made:

EY3 have been retelling their own versions of the ‘Billy Goat Gruff’ Story. Here is MeiMei’s dinosaur and LinLin fairies.

Fancy Dress Friday! Celebration Assembly
We have been learning about similes this week so we asked the children to come to assembly dressed up and to bring a simile to describe themselves to share with the rest of Year 2. The children were very imaginative. We had children that were as tough and as rough as pirates, as strong as Superman, as scary as witches and children who were as sparkly as the stars in the sky! A great effort Year 2, well done!
