Loy Krathong Celebrations
Our Loy Krathong celebrations were a real joy this morning. It was a delight to see students back performing with such gusto and obvious enjoyment. Thank you for your support to make the day so special. Especial thanks to the parents who contributed so generously and deliciously to the Thai Fair. We will report back next week to give the total amount raised for the Bright Dawn Foundation. Thank you to K Gade and the ebullient Thai team for all their work to make the celebrations happen. Thank you also to the Secondary students who planned and organised all the activities

We look forward to making Krathongs tomorrow.

Musicians of the Month

Congratulations to Ingrid (Y11) and Achi (Y5). Ms Neina praises Achi’s singing as KS2 prepare for their Christmas performance. There is praise for Ingrid for her great strides in Music IGCSE and in her drumming skills. We certainly enjoyed Ingrid’s performance in the recent ‘Live Lunch’

The HHIS composer of the month for November is Aaron Copland. His music will be played through the school. Here are the links to some of his well known pieces that you may like to enjoy:
I Bought me a Cat from Old American Songs
Fanfare for the Common Man
Appalachian Spring

Road Safety
There has been a focus on Road Safety for the children in KS2: Ms Hannah has been teaching the children the Green Cross Code: https://www.roadwise.co.uk/schools/using-the-road/green-cross-code/

Children are taught to Think about where it is safe to cross, Stop on the pavement, just before the kerb, Look and listen for traffic, Wait to let traffic pass, Look and listen again and Walk across when it’s clear. Do not run.

Please do ask your child to practise these instructions when they are crossing the road with you.

The children have also been encouraged to enter the ‘I Dream, I Paint on Road Safety’ competition run by the bus monitors, which closes on Wednesday 30th November. Each child has been emailed detailed information regarding this competition.

Online Safety
This is an area that is of concern to all parents. In order to help our understanding of the risks and share ways to protect our children, Mr Joe and Mr Rick will be holding a workshop for Primary parents on Mon 21st November 2:30-3:15 in the room above the swimming pool changing rooms.

Learning beyond the Classroom

As well as being great fun, visits outside of school, enhance learning and make it have purpose. Last week Dr Dewan, from Shiva, brought Year 8’s studies to life as they experienced the aromas, tastes and meditation techniques typical of India.

Visits to Sirindhorn International Environmental Park
Children are returning from Sirindhorn International Environmental Park buzzing with the sights and sounds of the park. The visit will really inspire them in their studies this term. Year 3 and year 4 will have their visits this week. https://home.sirindhornpark.or.th/en/

Swimming Competition
Good Luck to all our swimmers who are competing at ISB in Bangkok this weekend!
